I feel bad about lying to my boss!!

I am a part-timer at a drugstore and recently i've been feeling lazy so I told my boss I was sick. I skipped work friday and saturday already. And today I wanted to go to work but then my inner voice tells me, "dont go. you've skipped two days already. you might as well skip the sunday also."

I don't really like my job that much. They call me a merchandiser, but really im just a stockboy/janitor.

plus, i am going back to school tomorrow. i should get myself prepared mentally.

SIGH..

I wish I was still a kid.
I work in a building with 500 other people. Probably half of them have been there for at least 15 years. I can assure you that 498 of them (myself included) have called-in sick when they weren't sick. Those other 2 people just don't have a life, I reckon.

Take it from me. You can be a kid as long as you want. I've been doing it for 37 years.
Lets extrapolate kindbud's point a little further. I work in a building (actually a medical campus) with 4,000 employees and I would estimate 3,992 of those people have called in sick when they weren't. Just don't make a habit of it, and chalk it up as a couple of 'mental health days'. Remember, you're useless to your boss if you go postal at work, so really what you're doing is good for the company.
If you don't get paid for not working then who cares?

exactly.

no offense but your job is menial. if he really hates you, he'd fire you...he hasn't so obviously he doesn't care.

move on, study and remember when you go out drinking instead of studying that working as a stockboy is a experience not worth repeating

This is probably a good idea. I've missed a grand total of 3 days work in 18 years working (2 of them due to car wreck/car problem when I was young and one due to sickness). Most everyone I know uses their sick days as "mental health' days or 'unannounced vacation days'. Looking back .. I should have too. It doesn't really make that much difference in the grand scheme of things.

Um... get over it!
^ what he said.

It's important to remember that sick days are sacred things. Never feel guilty about using them - and never waste them if you're really sick.

BTW, I get paid for sick days.

this is true in all jobs and all walks of life, but especially if youre a stockperson at a pharmacy (no offense).

and i mean. if you get fired, like you cant find another minimum wage job somewhere.
he probably lies about more important things to you and other employees, so its not a big deal.
sounds like you need therapy more than anything.

First thing I thought when reading the original post.

This is not to slight urban at all, but it doesn't sound like a healthy "I need time out" kind of thing - especially not if he's feeling guilty about it.

I think I know quite well how you feel, urban.

This reminds me of that commercial for OfficeMax (or one of the office supplies stores) where the guy walks into his boss's office and says he's not feeling too good and he's got this yellow/greenish tone to his face.

The boss says he can go...next thing you know they say one of the many things you can do with a highlighter!

That had me laughing hysterically!
Ferris Buehler's Day Off

If you don't go in, do they need to call someone else to work your shift? If so, think what it would be like if you were enjoying your time at home and the boss calls you up and needs you to work.

I'd think they'd still be alright if the new shipment of extra small condoms went on the shelf a day late.

I've worked a crappy, crappy job, so I know how crappy, crappy jobs can get.
