Howard Stern defends Apple/iPod

Anyone hear Howard this morning defend Apple and the iPod? He said he loves it (his iPod) and knows about the lawsuite and knows Apple will make good. I hope so. Thanks Howard
He has been a paid spokesman for the iPod and the show gave dozens of them away back in October and November. That being said, he does have one of his own and apparently uses it... Or at least he claims to. Seems his iPod comes up all the time, even after the paid mentions ended before the holidays.

Then again, no real computer user would trust Howard when it comes to technology. They always talk about Lotus Notes, too.

That may be true, but it seems that you'd be hard-pressed to find an American celebrity who *doesn't* own and love an iPod.

A Howard Stern endorsement does have its drawbacks, too.

Normally, it's a "double-D" drawback...

when he/they talk about lotus notes they usually bitch and complain about it.

That is the only valid way to talk about that utter, utter POS software.

It's one of those typical Windows-ish "does everything, but nothing well enough to be more useful than annoying" programs.

We just got upgraded to Version 5 a few months ago at work, and what it's gained in sense and usefulness is more than made up for by truly boneheaded interface ********.

Who is this Howard Stern you speak of?

He does have a 40gb and he said he paid for it after the giveaway because he didn't think he would like it. He is not a spokesman now but may be in the future. He also said 'how long do you expect the battery to last in these types of things anyway?'. This is true since most devices batteries that small only last about that long anyway and people end up getting new anyway but it is expensive for the common man. Just because it comes from Howard does not make it less true.

Also isn't the suite about older gen iPods not the newer versions with a better battery?

The older ones had better battery life (10 hours vs. about 7 on the newer, 3rd-generation ones).

I don't see how ipod batteries are so overpriced. They're $49 if you don't want the ipod to be serviced by someone and $99 if you do (it's as simple as sliding a credit card along the edge and popping off the back cover).

IMHO go look at camcorder batteries and report back to me, they're just as expensive if anything, same as laptop batteries..
I *had* a 3rd Gen 15GB ipod, but I dumped it and bought a barely used 20GB 2nd gen (I already own a 10GB 2nd gen which my girlfriend uses). I didn't like the weaker battery and cheaper feel of the 3rd gen units. IMO, the 2nd gen ipods are of significantly better quality than the newer.
It is great to have two radio titans on our side. Don Imus also speaks highly of Apple. He often plays songs from his iPod.

3 actually, if you count Rush.
Howard Stern said something to the effect of "I'm just amazed they can make something like the iPod and it works. stop you're complaining." Then either him or Robin mentioned that it's like cell phones and then they commented that it's more like a pc where you end up having to get a new one after less than two years. word

don WHO? no idea who he is.
Don Imus has been doing morning drive from NYC since 1972 on the flagship NBC radio station WNNNNNBC 660 AM. Had a few down years when he got his ass fired and worked from Cleveland in the late 70s. He is now on the sports station WFAN @ 660 AM in NYC, nationally syndicated on both AM and FM stations and is simulcast on MSNNNNNNBC 6-9 weekdays.

is he a sports DJ? i just looked up some stuff about him and all it really said was he is supposed to be an accomplished morning DJ and he once insulted Clinton.
i also couldn't find any info about him being on in Chicago.
Not to derail this thread but... I'm going to try anyway.

Many radio talk shows just plain scare me. The one-sidedness of some shows is awful, whether it's for the left or right.

Not only the lopsidedness of discussions (have people seen how guys like Chris Matthews on Hardball, or the O'Reilly factor guy, simply cut off their guests in the middle of making points that they don't agree with? Yeesh), but the constant yelling and bickering. Seriously, this is how adults go about talking about issues? Interrupting and yelling at each other?

Radio shows like Savage Nation (and the other one that comes on late at night here) are just scary - they probably upset many people's late night rest. They don't seem to accomplish anything, either.

Now, to show my real crazy side... I find a show like Coast to Coast AM much more valuable than a show like Savage Nation, simply because they discuss different topics, and not while yelling at the top of their lungs. Sure, crazy people come on there, too, but at least they're *obviously* crazy

Sorry to turn a thread so awry... but I really had to get that off my chest.

(I won't go off on things like Fox News, etc., since those networks are so worthless that I don't even want to take the time out of my day to type about them.)
thats nice of him...maybe he will start giving out iPod's to the porn stars and strippers that come on his show if they blow him or something.

JoeG4 is right!

cordless phone battery: $15
cellphone: $50
camcorder : $ 50+
brand name AA rechargeables: $20-25
laptop batteries: $100+

and i believe in NYC that you can have tekserve do it for 75 bucks
