best way to view gmail on 7.5.5?

Hi...

I would like to use my Color Classic (with a Color Classic II logic board) to send and recieve email using my gmail account. I am running 7.5.5.
Long before Google was around, I remember using Eudora to send and recieve email.  Would an older vrsion of Eudora work?

Is anyone here using a Color Classic and gmail?  How do you do it?

Thanks

jack

A Colour Classic II is quite old for Gmail, and I would suggest upgrading to a 68040 (Mystic upgrade) for Gmail. Your best bet would be Baton Mail or something like that.

Also, have you considered running System 7.5.4? http://www.fenestrated.net/~macman/SysReview/#Summaryis a good explanation of why. I have 7.5.4.

Tanuki65....

Thank you for your email.

I actually have two logic boards for my Color Classic.  One is a Color Classic II logic board which I am running now.  The second logic board I have is a 575.  I am attempting the Mystic upgrade to it now.  However, I am at a stand still as I am unable to find any 70 ns 512K 68 pin VRAM SIMMs

I suspect when everything is all finished, I will be running the 575 in my Color Classic, and have the Color Classic II logic board as a back up.

I have never heard of 7.5.4!!  I will start looking for it along with Baton Mail.

Thank you for your help.

Tanuki65....

The links you posted, and the links I found to Baton Mail are dead.  Do you know where I can find it?

As I am going to mostly be running my Color Classic with the 575 logic board (and a full 68040 processor, 128MBs of RAM and a CF card for a SCSI drive) do you think I can run a old copy of Eudora (if I can not find Baton Mail)?

It looks like 7.5.4 is lost in the wind.  No trace of it any where.  All dead links.

So far, I am lucky (or unlucky depending on how you look at it). My ISP still doesnt use SMTPS or POPS authentication, its still all plaintext.

In this day and age, I'd say unlucky.
