Just came in today. Later I'm gonna post pics of a side-by-side comparison with the Dual G4 so you guys can see up close the differences. Pics are kinda dark cuz the camera's LCD and flash were broken. Heh. Turned out ok shooting blind.

We got this Dual G5 XServe from Apple after our Dual G4 kept messing up. We replaced everything except the backplane and the interconnects for the hotswap modules, and the things till kept twigging out. After 3 calls to the tech, Apple finally decided to just replace it with a G5.
Ahhh....
is it...spiffy?
I think Apple users are the only people who post pictures of unpacking the product on the internet
Oh god...I think I need a tissue. All I can say is those are too damn pretty to be server parts.

It's great being a geek!
Man, those guts should be hanged on the wall, not tucked away in a rack!
I'd hit it.

Sure, even better, my desktop is the flower that comes on the eMac box and a nice guy here on MacNN forums scanned for me (us). I can not think about a pc user doing that (both things)

I'd like one of those... would go great with my 12 inch PowerBook... not sure exactly what I'd use it for... but i'd find SOMETHING to do with it hehe
What do you make of this ? "Apple Must Make Strong Case for Xserve G5 Adoption" .

It reckons that the Dual 2 Ghz G5 Xserve has about 1/2 the computing power of a 2.2 GHz Opteron, and costs more. FUD ? They don't provide any figures to back up the claim, and certainly it seems strange, otherwise why didn't the US Army buy Opterons for their new supercomputer ???
