iPod mini in Canada?

OK, well I'm thinking, http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2004/mar/25ipod.html says that the iPod mini should ship in the June quarter... which now that I think about it means it could ship as late as September! Do you guys think they might even be able to reach that deadline or is it still nearly impossible to even get an iPod mini in America? I'd really like to be able to get one before school. Partly because they're cheaper than iPods and partly because I want it to match my PowerBook, and partly because it's smaller. I just don't much care for the look of the current iPods in comparison. Not to mention the fact that the 15 gigger would still cost me 416 bucks with an edu discount.

I was thinking of buying an iPod really soon but I will probably hold off on the thing until the mini is available or the iPod gets updated or something. The lack of wired remote and dock on the low end is also a grrish non-selling feature.

Oh well, until Hatachi can get those drives to Apple fast enough I'll just have to buy more RAM, and AirPort card and Graphics Tablet.
Check their store. They're now taking preorders. It's $349 retail, including the ******** copyright tax. It's $50 Cdn less than the 15 gigger. Considering the currency exchange, Apple Canada is taking a bit of a hit on the 15 gig to keep it under $400.

Isn't the tax just $15?

Yep, and $25 for the regular iPods.

Considering we are not getting sued for downloading music I don't think $15 is a big deal at all.

What about the people that don't even download illegal music. Must they suffer too?

Guilty till proven innocent is worse than getting caught and paying the fine.

Ah, but if you were to ever get into a accident, a Ambulance would have to take your sorry butt to the Hospital on said roads.

You can apply paying taxes to services you don't use with just about everything.

Plus, I rather pay $15 and not get my sorry butt sued for $3000 by the greedy RIAA.

Canada
Doesn't the Liberal Party want to change that?

Not to mention that the CRIA wants to challenge that ruling?

So far it has only happened once. And it went nowhere.

RIAA is a lot of hot air.

"In this round, the music labels sued 482 people located in St. Louis, Denver, Washington, D.C., and New Jersey. The industry has sued 3,429 people since launching its lawsuit campaign last September.

None of the cases has gone to trial. Hundreds of defendants have opted to settle with the industry for around $3,000 each."

You don't get a choice on what you use, the health care providers do. STARS is activated to scene responses in conjuction with ground personnel, or more often they are activated BY the ground personnel, and they can't fly in shitty weather. Most high performance EMS systems have protocols to stage a helicopter, but it is not put airborne until the ground crew makes the call. The only change to this would be in environments where ground crews can't access the patient. Even more often it occurs where the ground crew gets to the patient, transports them, and has them at the community hospital before the air crew can even get there. The air crew than transports from the community hospital to the higher level of care hospital (usually a level one trauma center).

In short, air transport will NEVER replace an effective ground system! So, pay those taxes and enjoy!
