iBook battery probs...

Hey,

I have an iBook 600 DVD which I used as my main computer until I got my Power Mac last year.

When I got the PM I lent the iBook to a friend who needed a computer. After getting it back the other day it would seem she didnt like it, and had only used it once, the rest of the time it sat in a drawer.

Now the battery will only hold about an hours charge. It used to be about 3 hours. Is there any way I can recondition the battery? I have tried charging, discharging, and recharging to no avail, though could it take a few cycles, or is my battery dead?

Col
You already posted this here.
yes, I know I did, until I realised that the iBook forum has about as many visitors as Hannibal Lector.

My god, does it even matter man? How anal can you get.
Cross-posting is uncool.
dang... <clicks finger>... shoot, to think I cared so much about how cool my 'online personality' is!

Seriously though dude, is there a problem? 'cos I don't see one.
Well If I didn't say it, someone else would have.
I actually posted in your other thread, but if I had seen you did a double post (and in the non-mac forum), then been a pr1ck when called down about it, I wouldn't have.
Buy a new battery. (how old is the iBook?)
Have you tried resetting the pmu? How are you charging - in sleep mode, or with all your programs blazing, screen bright, airport, etc?

Just posting this to side with iCol, since I like breaking the rules too. But it'll no doubt be locked or moved back to the ibook forum. If you wanted more feedback you should've got a powerbook.
I wasnt being a pr1ck, I just honestly dont see a problem.

I'm sorry if posting the same thing in two forums pisses people off, it wasnt my intention.

Cheers for the help from those who have though, much appreciated.

Even the background stripes in there are the old ones and not the new panther-style ones we enjoy in every other forum...

There is your answer.
No, at this point you will not be able to get the battery life back. On top of that it is 2.5 years old at least. Buy a new battery and next time wait more then 3 minutes before posting your question in another forum because you can't be bothered to wait for someone to help you out like everyone else does.
