...than sitting at work right now (at a news wire service, getting ready to edit "Grand Rapids Summary (2nd)").

So how bad do you hate your job?
I work in "news" too. I'm at work at 4:30am everyday to prepare for a 5:30am-7:00am newscast. Sometimes it sucks, but sometimes it has its benefits like getting off mid-afternoon.

Don't hate the actual job at all; however, I do hate the politics involved within a school district that goes along with the job...
I'm a Java software developer. I'm considering jumping from a great height.

EDIT: removed smiley. I just realized what code I have to fix today.

I'm a programmer and I love my job. Whenever something bad happens, I think back to when I was doing physical labor and getting paid near-minimum wage. This does wonders for my attitude and makes even the most clueless of end users seem more lovable.
I like my dentist. I don't want to lose my teeth.

I'm currently hating not having a job much more than I ever hated having one. Actually, I do sort of have a job now, but teaching English two hours every Wednesday night can hardly fill your schedule.

But I'm still glad that I have it, and that I'm paid rather handsomely for it, and that I don't have to do the physical labour thing. A friend of mine here works 13 hours a day in a restaurant and gets about $60 a month for it. Now that sucks!
I always wanted to be a lumberjack.

I could look at it like that, I guess. In high school I only lasted three days at a job at a nursery (the tree kind...not children) before I messed up my back. Now I slouch in front of a computer all day (still not good for my back) and rearrange bits into software.

EDIT: BasketofPuppies: Lumberjack? Not the Monty Python kind I hope...

I like my job. But would I be doing it if I didn't need the money? HELLS NO.

I have lots of respect for those who are doing what they love - no matter what the pay is... i.e. teachers, law enforcement etc...
Well, they are always looking down in the mouth.

I work 12 hour days and on a bad day I have literally 3-5 hours of time to spend goofing off and hittin' on the female co-workerswith the boss's blessing. The wonder of full automation.

Not bad for $18.96 an hour and great benefits.

So no, I don't hate my job.

What the hell do you do, and are there any positions available?
I absolutely love my job. I can't think of anything I'd rather do. But I'm weird that way.
I'm fine with my job in the Intarweb business, but dream of moving on to a more creative environment someday (but still working on da Web). I know there's gotta be something even better on the other side of these four gray cube walls.
