I seen this movie in an advance screening yesterday evening.....I was so surprised at how good it was...
I love it and I think it was one of the best movies I have seen in a long while.

The only thing that confuses me is what time period it is supposed to take place in....

What did you guys think?
I thought it was out in full release... I admit I haven't looked for it in the theaters but I know it is on my "I want to see" list.

I dare say (based off of previews) that it might take place within the last couple decades and the kid is just so out of place.
It looks totally funny, not playing at many theatres though.
I'm inclined to think that it takes place in the present. 1) They're ordering stuff online from shady people, and that didn't become common until the late 90's really. 2) I'm not that up on my fashion, but Kip's clothes by the end of the movie seem of pretty recent vintage.

I think the confusion is due to Napoleon's fashion sense being anchored in the late 70's for some reason.

Plus of course, there's what the filmmaker has to say:

Quote:
The film takes place in a time warp of sorts, where Napoleons style seems borrowed from the late 70s where the rest of the world is caught in the mid-80s. Yet Hess says the film actually takes place in the present.

"The styles are eclectic, what the people are wearing. In a lot of rural communities, however, its whatever works, works," Hess explains. "Its not so much the case of fashion and style, but function. Napoleons moon boots also double as a great pair of running shoes."
It is totally funny....
The thing is it looks like it is based in maybe 86 or so but they are talking about "The Web" and "Chatrooms" and buying stuff from the web....

Then there is another part where they have some music and it is Backstreet boys and then they have some Jamiroquai.....

I agree...He dosent really fit in but he matches everything else around him when it comes to the 80's fashion.
It must be present day as he has "been chatting with babes online all day".
Yeah....But then why is everyone in the town stuck in the 80's?
Very strange...But I cannot stress enough how good it is.
I'm psyched... it is now on my "must do" list for the weekend.

Because it is supposed to be one of those movies that takes the best/worst from a decade and mashes them all together.

Gattica looked like it took place in a futuristic 50's.
So far my favorite movie out this year, I started a thread on this a while back ago.

I saw a screening for this movie the other night. It was hilarious. And I got a free t-shirt. Sweet!

I don't even know if it's in full release yet, but whenever it is, go see it.

i'm going to see this lil flick in a couple of hours, and i'm so excited i could pee. which is odd, because i dont usually get excited about movies.

( i'll blame it on the vicodin. I had a tooth pulled yesterday. what a way to spend $130.00 and a friday evening. )
I think it looks funny! I've been wanting to see it!
F*cking Sacramento, I hate this place. The closest theater playing Napoleon is 70 miles from here.
I'd even say it's worth a 70 mile drive to see the movie. It's that awesome.

Does anyone know if the new TV spots are available online? Like the one with Napoleon and Pedro in the hotel? I've been looking everywhere.
did anyone stay after the credits to see the hilarious wedding scene?

I did. It was ok. A fun thing to see if you happened to see it, but I don't know how much you miss. I'd see it again, just to see it again, and if you need an excuse to go again, yeah, why not? Thats your reason.

"you have the worst reflexes of all time!"
What a return on that movie. It's probably made 10 mil, and it only cost $400,000 make.
I have the same problem. This movie and Some Kind of Monster are 100 miles east. Oh well, there's always DVD.
just saw this movie last night. i had no expectations. i have never laughed like that in a theater before.

go see this now if you can! excellent movie.

Awesome movie, instant classic. Gonna get it on DVD ASAP. Also, check out Shaun of the Dead.
Yeah, go see Shaun of the Dead too

eh ... will wait for DVD
i missed the dynamite with the extra wedding scene at the end... had to see it the day it came out...
Me too. I was really motivated to see it a second time, but now that school has started I think I'll just wait for the DVD. But that can't come fast enough, either.
know the feeling...know the feeling...
The movie was awesome, anyone know when it comes out on DVD??
full release of this movie was back in EARLY EARLY August. I'm so confused now. did I somehow get into a special viewing of this movie or somthing? Or did the movie just get seriously delayed getting to the rest of you.
