I went to Wiesbaden last weekend with my girlfriend, to visit a friend of hers. On our way back to Munich, we took a break in Eppstein, which is in between Wiesbaden and Koenigstein in Hessen.

No kidding, Eppstein is one of the most beautiful and pictoresque towns that I have ever seen, enjoy!

...und jetzt noch ein paar Bilder vom hsslichen TU-Nordgebude als Kontrast dazu!!
Sehr schn! Germany is such a beautiful country. I love the spooky ruined castle Eppstein. Begun in year 1100...wow. I live in one of the oldest towns in the US (1631), but it is young by comparison!
If I were a kid in that town, I'd be playing in that ruined castle.
Is Eppstein really all that special?

I mean, yes, it's pretty, but apart from the location, it looks like any one of hundreds of small towns/villages in southern/western Germany...?

Note also there's a bunch of buildings that were refinished in the 50s, hiding the beautiful wooden framework.

In other towns, such as Ladenburg (which isn't quite as quaintly located in the middle of the woods, but is a thousand years older), they've started removing those "improvements" and restoring the original mediaeval facades, resulting in stunningly beautiful streets.

Exactly! You Germans take all that beauty for granted.

Never said it was special, did I? However my mommy always said I'm special (j/k).
It's just a beautiful, little town that I visited. That's all.

Ah.

That makes sense. Carry on.

voyageur: People always take too much for granted.
