Fair Warning about "The Tipping Point" on ITMS
· Troubleshooting · 11 posts · Jul 13, 2004 — Jul 28, 2004 View original thread ↗
The new album "The Tipping Point" by the critically acclaimed hip hop band The Roots that is offered on the ITMS is not a complete album ... despite the fact that it is not listed as a "partial album". It is apparently missing three tracks .... "Why?", "The Mic", and "Melting Pot" ... that are available on the CD. Needless to that I was a bit perturbed to discover this after I purchased the album. Considering how this is the #1 Hip Hop album and #3 overall album on the ITMS today I thought I'd pass this information along.

Additionally, the fourth track "Guns Are Drawn" seems to be corrupt. It consistently crashes iTunes on both my iBook and my iMac at 4 minutes and 33 seconds into the track. Today was definitely not my best experience with the ITMS!

Thanks a bunch, all Canadians thank you kindly.

Good thing this wasn't the 100,000,000th song! Steve wouldn't have been happy with that press.
Have you complained to ITMS yet?

Hey, it might come handy for you Canadians in 2015, when the Canadian iTMS opens

Indeed I have. On the feedback page as well as the tech support page for the corrupted track.

Are you sure those tracks aren't bonus tracks? The first run of Nickelback's latest album contained 3 bonus tracks that weren't available on the iTMS, and aren't available in stores anymore.
And Why? is one hell of a damn good song.

From what I've been able to discover, there is one regular track and two "hidden" tracks that aren't one the ITMS version.

Good stuff. Too many folks don't direct their complaints to the proper channels.
Well it appears that my (and perhaps others') feedback to the ITMS about this issue bore fruit. I went by the ITMS today and found that "The Tipping Point" album now contains 12 tracks instead of 9. It now offers the "Why?", "The Mic", and "Din Da Da" tracks that the CD has. Apparently they are still not including "The Melting Pot", but that's not too big of a deal since it really isn't a song anyway. It's more like some sort of experimental musical interlude that's only a couple minutes long anyway.
