OK, I heard about SaveKaryn.com. It seems people on the internet are willing to give out money!

I am in need of money. It's for a trip I'm making to Ukraine this summer, as part of the organisation Link Ukraine. The money is to help me and some other students help a local church in Donetsk to set up and run a youth camp for primary-school-aged kids. So it's for a good cause!

I realise I'm going to get a lot of **** for having the nerve to ask something like this. I don't really care; if even one person sends me some cash to help Link Ukraine, then this was worth doing

Why should you get a hard time for this? Everyone does fundraising (or maybe just everyone I know...

). That's what you do with the people you know for worthwhile things.

Bad timing though -- the Link Ukraine site is down for maintenance apparently. I'll be happy to check it out when it is back up.

Beg on the street, or better yet clean car windows. Lotsa money there and there are worse ways to spend a weekend than gettin some sun and money

If you had created your thread with the headline "Please help me with trip to Ukraine" or something like, you might be getting a better response than "will you give me some money?"

My reasoning was that people would open the thread in order to tell me to stop being a scrubber, then find out it was for a good cause... I know I'd open a thread titled "will you give me some money", just to find out if it was for real, and maybe deride the poster if they were just begging. I imagined others would do the same
