Scam?

I don't think that this belongs in the software forum, as I'm asking about whether something is a scam, rather than discussing the actual software.

Anyway, take a look at this. It's $999 software!

Something seems wrong, but the seller has great feedback. How would someone be able to sell 55 download versions for free? Do you think these might be pirated activation codes?
SCAM

This is the full retail download version of Macromedia Studio MX Pro._ You will need to_download the_30 day trial version of Studio MX_at http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/t...ct=studiomx_pro ._ At the close of auction you will be emailed the activation code to convert this to a full non-trial version within 24 hours of close of auction._ This will activate the software and allow full unrestricted use._

Basically, you have to download the demo version yourself, and he'll send you a serial number via email for 50 bucks. Sounds like an honest, upstanding dude.

It does seem like a scam, but he has great feedback.

This is probably something that wouldn't lower his feedback, though, as no one would ever know. A code is a code, legal or illegal.

Yeah, he does have some positive feedback for this exact item, strange IMO.

He has pictures of the retail box, though he isn't even selling anything that could physically be sent anywhere.

I wonder if all those people are getting the same serial number ?
I think the only person getting scammed here is Macromedia...I say go for it...

Auction price includes DHL overnight shipping anywhere in the 48 contiguous states.

For 20 mill, not bad.

I hope he got stuck with the "closing fees"...

I mean if the people are receiving the same serial # from this guy, then Macromedia is getting screwed of course.

Haha...oh. I didn't know that's what he meant. Don't worry...I'll never be pirating anything. Not even music.

Maybe they are all different serial numbers...all from some serial number generator.

I lawlled!!!
pah! - the guy on ebay.co.uk selling the pirate copies is only asking 10 a time for them [and i think you actually get a CD!]

if you're that gullible would you be interested in my "ipod for 10" auction? it's got loads of shite about the ipod and some great photos copied direct from the apple site and then right at the bottom it says in very small type "this auction is not for an actual ipod - i'm just selling a link where you can get one for 10"

.... but you wouldnae read that far, would you?
why pay 50 bucks for something that you can download for free?

I mean, ethics aside since it's piracy either way, why spend the money?
It's a scam and they have been reported to Macromedia Anti-Piracy....
