I need to get some help with my OS I am running Mac OSX 10.3.8 the other day our internet connection went down at first we thought it was the modem, I am not able to log into my computer every time I try to it locks up just before the log in dialog box Just at the end of the status bar in login it hangs up, we got a message from comcast the other day saying that they found a problem and they fixed it but I still can't log in using my regular ethernet connection. the funny thing is I can log in using a wireless connection any help would be greatly appreciated.
It sounds as though you can't log in via the GUI, but can through the command line. If this is so, you probably have a corrupted file which is causing the GUI to hang. Drop into single user mode on startup, and run fsck. If that doesn't help, run DiskWarrior.
