Ok, I've been seeing some subterranean mentions to problems with LCD backlighting after installing Tiger. Some say they touch the brightness buttons and the backlight turns off, others say that the backlight won't come up after getting out of sleep, etc.

My Pismo's backlight was turning off 3 seconds after turning on at boot, and in the meantime flickered, whined and had strange horizontal lines.

That was yesterday. I couldn't work all day and was already breaking into a cold sweat, because I don't have the cash to buy a new 'Book and I'm saving for the G4/550 upgrade.

Today it's fine as roses. I'm on Tiger 10.4.0
Hadn't heard of this one, and not experiencing it.
same here, no probs on a 667 MHz Tibook
My backlight problems with Tiger are nothing like whats above but I CANNOT adjust the brightness since installing tiger. I started another thread about it and there is a long thread about it on Apple discussions but noting has been done and no one knows thats wrong.

This is veryfrustrating because like someone else said, I feel like I paid $130 to break my PB.

I have a 1GHz Ti BTW.
works fine for me.. maybe you should try a clean install.
Works fine on my 15inch 1.67... Good luck
My controls work fine, though I have noticed it dimms the backlight more frequently than Panther when its idle.
The problem that I have seems to only affect late model Ti books and various ibooks. I have not yet seen any problems listed about Al.

I hope this is not Apple's way of telling us that they are not supporting Ti's anymore.
False alarm. It's a hardware problem; now my backlight works normally until I start to close the lid, after a point it turns off and the only way to turn it on again is to close the lid completely to force a sleep and open it to force a restart of the backlight. It my inverter board or a fried cable.

Mods, please lock this thread, sorry.
I've got a Rev A 17" PB with a gig of ram and I routinely put it to sleep by just closing the lid. Since installing Tiger it always wakes back up with the LCD brightness at level 1 or 2 and I have to keep hitting the F2 button to go to full power - the way I likes it.
