With Summer here (in Texas anyway ), I was wondering what type of sunglasses you use. After I had lasik, I treated myself to a pair of Oakley Half Jacket polarized shades and really liked them. They were nice and dark and worked well whether I was running the marathon or skiing.

What do you use?

Edit: two postings to the wrong forums in one day. Thought I was in the Lounge!
Sorry Tooki!

Oakley X-Metal Romeo IIs. Best pair I've owned. Comfortable and durable. I'm a big fan of Oakleys but these are the tops.
I dislike oakleys, I am a SPY man all the way, the polarized SPY MC's are the best sunglasses I ever owned (unfortunetly for me I got them stolen from me while in Guatemala, which means I have to buy another pair)

Ouch! Why's there such a big diff in price on the Romeo IIs versus the Half Jacket?
Oakleys have really really good glass (or plastic whatever), I still have one lying around but I don't wear it anymore since it looks a bit too funky. I'm too old for that design. My current ones are kinda falling apart (Burberry's) so I'll be off buying a new pair the coming weeks.

I live on Maui, we have intense sun year round. By a wide margin, the most popular sunglasses on the island are Maui Jim (www.mauijim.com). Excellent optics, very durable, and the company repairs everything for free for life. They are a favorite amongst people in the boating and fishing industry here as well, people who not only have to deal with the sun, but with the glare off the water. Honestly, Oakley doesn't even compare.......... I prefer Maui Jim's glass lenses over the plastic ones.
Arnettes all the way.
I have 2 pairs of Oakleys that I wear depending on what I feel like wearing and how sunny it is etc...

http://oakley.com/site/media/cache/...e.jpg_0_0_0.jpg got these about 4 years ago (I think) shortly after they came out. They still look great and take a beating.

http://oakley.com/site/media/cache/...6.jpg_0_0_0.jpg got these 2 years ago at the beach. They aren't quite as dark as the x-metal's that I have and are a bit less sturdy. Still they look great and the optics are crystal clear.

I've been thinking about buying a new pair recently, I think I might check out the Mauijim's that Starry Night recomended... they do look very nice!
It's either 99 cent only store shades or Spy for me. My Dad stepped on my micro scoops and broke them. So I just went to Spy's headquarters here in Carlsbad and had the swap it out. Cool.

OK, anyone who buys discount sunglasses should not be allowed to make recommendations.

I tried the Maui Jims but they fit small and didn't seem very durable.

I've always been a fan of Oakleys. They are very rugged, last a long time and the lens is very good at blocking light out (I'm sensitive to bright lights), even on water or snow.
GI aviator-style sunglasses. One pair in each car. I LIVED with these for six months after my PRK, and wouldn't do without them now.

But... I am looking at more side protection some time in the future.

Edit to addIt's all your fault! Now I have ZZ Top's "Cheap Sunglasses" running though my head!

aviators. definitely.
I'm not into fashion or anything about it.. but for me Armani makes some really amazing sun glasses. The colors are topnotch.. amazing. One I was goofing around at the mall and tried them.. I bought them there.
My costa del mar sunglasses are the best I've ever owned. I love the way they fit and they provide great contrast and protection.

I wear the 99 cent only shades when there is a chance I'll scratch the lenses or lose them. I wear the Spy's when I go snowboarding or just want to look kewl.

Remember, warranties almost never cover scratches, and for the price of my Spy's, I could buy 120 99 cent only store shades.
