Using Blake™
A Cyberdog replacement browser.
Version: Technical Release 2
Requires OpenDoc 1.2.1 and Cyberdog 2.0.
Getting started:
0) Understand the Blake is a Technical Release and as such, it will crash your computer. It is a
technical demonstration and it is not ready for prime time. Don't work on anything important
while using this software. You have been warned.
1) Install and check the operation of OpenDoc 1.2.1 and Cyberdog 2.0.

and

2) You need to download and install Microsoft Outlook Express 4.0c (or later) for Blake Technical
Release 2. Since we have not finalized licensing for IEControl for re-distribution, this is an
indirect way of getting the correct libraries needed for Blake installed on your computer without
us getting sued! Its big (>4MB) - sorry. Download and install it. All we need is the stuff that goes
into the System Folder; you can delete the Outlook Express application folder if you want - just
don't delete the files it installs in the System Folder.

3) Run the Blake installer scriptlet. It will put the file Blake into the Cyberdog Libraries folder
which it assumes is in the Editors folder of the System Folder.
4) MAKE SURE you delete the file 'Kantara Window Sizer' in the Cyberdog Libraries folder, if it
exists. This is new from version TR1.
4) Make sure Cyberdog's memory partition is not larger than 2500K.
5) Start up Cyberdog. Go to a web page. Have Fun.
6) Note: Web sites will count you as both Cyberdog and Internet Explorer.
7) Run Register program and pay the shareware fee. :^)
8) Click on the Register Blake banner above the web pages, and enter the registration code once
you get it. You will no longer see it the banner.
Changes Since TR1:
1) You no longer have to visit Editor Setup to have Blake be used for viewing HTML. There is now
a menu item in the cyberdog menu that lets you turn Blake on or off for future URLs.
2) Kantara Window Sizer is integrated into Blake, and has bug fixes.
-1-
3) Lots of other things - take a look and see.
Known problems:
1) May crash sometimes! When it does, it will likely bring down your whole computer and erase
any unsaved work. Don't use this on a production machine.
2) Using secure sites will likely not work as expected. Don't use Blake for serious work at this
point.
3) Using frame based pages will likely not work as expected. We are waiting for Microsoft to fix
this bug in a future version of Outlook Express.
4) It is not streaming correctly (pukes somewhat on FTP - it asks for the password multiple
times).
5) No preference settings yet!
6) Death when trying to split a web page into multiple facets (across page boundaries in WAV,
etc.) This may never get fixed. Don't try embedding Blake in other documents!
7) JavaScript doesn't work. We are waiting for Microsoft for resolution on this matter and a
