IPNetRouter ReadMe (formerly IPNLink)
Sustainable Softworks
January 3, 1998
Introduction
IPNetRouter provides IP multihoming and routing under Macintosh Open Transport. With
IPNetRouter, you can use multiple IP interfaces at the same time (such as Ethernet and OT/PPP
for example), and specify additional routes for communicating with more than one IP gateway.
The built-in IP Masquerading feature allows an entire network to simultaneously share a single
Internet connection and end user account. IPNetRouter's OT native design offers superior
performance with greatly reduced cost and complexity.
A companion application IPNetMonitor provides a suite of integrated Internet tools which allow
Macintosh users to monitor their connection to the Internet. Registered users of IPNetRouter
are automatically registered for IPNetMonitor as well. Refer to the corresponding IPNetMonitor
documentation for information on using these tools.
IPNetRouter Features:
* OT native IP multihoming and routing.
* Allows multiple users to connect to the Internet simultaneously
using a single modem and dial-up account.
* A complete basic Internet toolkit (ping, traceroute, nslookup, whois).
* Full Macintosh user interface makes these tools more accessible.
* Superior integration.
Automatically transfers corresponding data from one tool to another.
Supports GURL Apple Event.
System requirements:
MacOS 7.5.3 and Open Transport 1.1.1 or later
Installation and Use
To install or remove the software, simply run the supplied Installer. Notice it is important to use
the supplied installer to uninstall the program. Manually dragging the OTModl$Proxy shared
library out of your Extensions folder can disable your TCP/IP configuration. The companion
application IPNetMonitor can be downloaded from the Sustainable Softworks web page at
<http://www.sustworks.com>.
A guide to "Getting Started with IPNetRouter" is available on the Sustainable Softworks web
site. To keep the download size small, this information is not included as part of the basic
download package. See
<http://www.sustworks.com/products/ipnr/gettingstarted/Guide.html>.
Help is also available on each of the various tools by clicking on the question mark symbol in the
lower left corner. This is probably the best way to familiarize yourself with more advanced
features of the software since you can experiment with the window while you read the
description.
The Release Notes describe the latest features and additions.
