Poly-Tile 1.09 is a peg-solitaire-style board game by S. T. Hong (STH at ecl.psu.edu) for Classic Mac OS. Color pieces sit on either a hexagonal or square grid, and the player jumps pieces over neighbors, removing the jumped piece, with the goal of leaving exactly one piece on the board in as few moves as possible.
Gameplay
Each move is a jump over an adjacent piece onto a blank space or another piece. The objective is to clear the board down to a single remaining tile, echoing classic peg solitaire mechanics.
Boards
The game supports both hexagonal and square grids, giving two distinct strategic geometries within a single application and changing how chains of jumps cascade across the board.
Difficulty
Described by the author as easy to learn but hard to master, Poly-Tile rewards forward planning and recognition of geometric patterns over reflexes.
Distribution
Released as shareware on Info-Mac under the board games (brd) category, alongside companion titles Poly-Dol, Poly-Kin, Polybrid, Poly-RC, and Polytris from the same author.
