The manual is designed to be both a 9how-to• guide 'and a reference manual for someone writing device drivers. A/UX is Apple's version of the UNIX® operating system. To use this manual effectively, you should have a working knowledge of the C programming language and written device drivers in the past. You need some knowledge of the A/UX operating system, including the major parts of A/UX, although detailed knowledge of the kernel is not required.
