At the same time, other c~ltures of the world continue to place great value on and share great respect for their elders as wise and honorable members of the society, to be cherished even long after death. What I suggest is that our society's attitudes and behaviors about its elders has undoubtedly affected our society in various other ways, particularly in the way~ we approach our everyday personal and business activities and the decisions we make. We tend to over-emphasize the new and ignore the value of the old. You may think my analogy is a little extreme, but if you consider the essence of the Lisa phenomena and its impact on computerization, you might see my point. As a computer salesman in San Francisco shortly after Lisa's introduction, I spent endless days and nights with her.
