This manual is intended for applications programmers who deal directly with the Operating System. The Operating System falls naturally into four categories: file management, process management, memory management, and process communication. In each of the four chapters describing these portions of the Operating System, there is an overview of the subject that explains the terms and concepts used in the system calls. The system calls themselves are then described in some detail. A fifth chapter describes system startup procedures. The Appendices describe the Operating System interface and error codes.
