I think it's a fine trade. If I were stuck with Windows and a Core 2 Duo and I had an opportunity to get a solid iMac G5, I'd seize upon it. Used Core 2 Duo laptops are fairly cheap these days and the premium paid for iMac G5's in the aftermarket would not have left with you with too much cash left over. The iMac G5 is timeless - a major leap forward in design. The Gateway is just another laptop hobbled by Windows.
