What the hell is this booze?

What the hell is this booze? Troubleshooting 9 posts Aug 7, 2004 — Aug 7, 2004
A friend is moving out of town and gave me a bunch of his leftover booze.

So what is this stuff? I saw some mention of it online that said it's thick black Latvian goo, and that it's very strong. Anyone actually drink this stuff before?
Never heard of it, but the container is interesting. Looks like an old-fashioned medicine bottle.
Looks like liquor or something related...
Riga Black Balsam, a thick, jet-black, 45-proof mixture that tastes downright revolting. It's been produced only in Latvia since 1755. It supposedly cured Catherine the Great of fever when she visited the country. Nobody knows how its made because the Latvians refuse to disclose the recipe but if you are sampling it, try it in your tea or coffee first as it is quite strong. Strangely enough its also quite an effective hangover cure which is always good to know.

It also won an award for it's packaging a few years ago.

Hope that helps

Adam
Very interesting bottle. I wouldn't touch **** like that though. It tastes terrible. I'd take a beer over hard liquor any day.
Damn you Eug, just drink it and give us a report! And post As you are drinking. We expect the full bottle gone by the last post... that way we have some indication of the... uh... merits of said nasty as drink of the devil!
Witch's Brew

Look like a bottle of alcoholic tar to me.
just ****ing drink it, you big tart! jeez, some of you people are weak. i bet you've even hidden it on the other side of the room in case the bottle attacks you, or something. it's times like this when you are the most aptly named MacNN member!
