Oregon Trail for Mac Plus Software 12 posts Nov 30, 2013 — Dec 6, 2013
Hey everyone! First time poster. This just arrived today: Oregon Trail for the Mac Plus, unopened! I do intend to open it, but I just bought a Classic on eBay that should arrive in a week so I will wait until that's up and running. :)

Ah, a true classic...

Welcome aboard; and awesome score on the NOS Oregon Trail! I'm getting double nostalgia...back in Primary School the Computer Lab had a bunch of soft are boxes taped up on a wall, each a couple feet apart or so. Oregon Trail was up there, and I played it there and at home!

That's awesome, which Mac did you get?

I would be so conflicted on opening that!

I got a Macintosh Classic that'll be here in a couple days. I was pretty conflicted, too, but I also really want to play it and I figure if I take unboxing photos then it'll be okay. :)

If you carefully cut around the seam where the top flap tucks into the side, you can preserve the shrink wrap.

And then you can make working copies of the disks and seal them back in the box, like with a tiny piece of invisible scotch tape or something.

If you're careful, only the most careful observers will know :) .

Definitely a neat find nonetheless! I never played it while I was young, but I did play with the son of one of my friends on his birthday earlier this year when they unpacked their old Mac Plus (with a ***working*** Hard Disk 20!).

Good luck!

I don't ever remember playing Oregon Trail on a Mac. We always played on Apple II.

in school we would only play oregon trail on apple II's

but mcdermd you should play it on the mac… its just as good, if not slightly better :)

Oh, very nice. Was this on eBay? I had one watched on my list, but I forgot to bid on it. I have the Apple II version. :)

Yep, eBay! $10 + shipping! 8-)

It's pretty much the same, just with better graphics.

I would never encourage piracy, but since you own the disks now and have a legal license to that particular version of the software, I'm pretty sure you could find that particular version of the software somewhere online so that you don't have to open your box.
