This is what I'm talking about:

It's not often you see it, but I would like to change it to be stripes-less anyway. But I'm having trouble locating it. I thought the logical location would be in Disc Copy, since the dialog comes up when I mount .dmg's. But it wasn't there.
Any one know where it is located?

you might try looking in the installer app. this same dialog is part of the installer and the disc copy version might use the same files. just a thought

Ok, where exactly is it located then?
I hope you don't mean the OS X in the background, because that is not what I'm looking for. Take a look at the screenshot again, this is running in SmoothStripes, but the dialog still has stripes on it. So there must be a picture somewhere which has an cd and stripes on it, and which is only used in this dialog. The installer dialog are always stripeless. And to me it makes no sens that Disc Copy would get it images from Installer. I think it must be hidden somewhere in the System folder.
The iMovie updater .pkg has a custom image in the installer diaglog, its a file called background.tif in the resources folder in the bundle.
I tried to copy this file into the resource folder of a .pkg with the standard OSX disc image, and it does indeed work!

it's in the extras rsrc in the ppat section...but i'm not sure which one it is...i have been working on a theme and i changed all the ppats to a certain color...now when i install i get your said graphic in that color with no lines...
hope that helps...
by the way...i have been lurking here for awhile and just signed up...
i have about 5 themes at various stages...i give up on one and go to one of the others and so on...very tiresome...
osx is not the best for theming...as you know...
hope that helps...

How about /Applications/Utilities/Installer.app/Contents/Resources/background.tif?
na...that's the picture...not what he wants.

Sorry Max, I thought you meant the graphic. Im pretty sure that the stripes are from a ppat since I have changed them before and not seen the stripes in the agreement.

Is it possible that it's one of the three ppat# in the localized resourse? I've never figured out where those ones where used.

I suppose it could be, those were used only in the Public Beta days I believe but possibly the agreement hasnt changed since then either?.
I think it might just be drawing the window background colour over it with an alpha? That would make most sense to me... Does it display the stripes if your theme doesn't have them?

Who knows? It's probably just a good idea to cover all your bases.
Thanks for the help everyone. I tried changing the Localized.rsrc ppats, but it did not help. I think there must be a picture hidden somewhere.. I also dubble checked that I did not have any stripes left in the Extras.rsrc.

Hmmm, I just double-checked my theme to make sure I didn't have the same problem. I'm not getting the stripes on mine. You might want to compare your theme with someone else's that doesn't have the stripes appearing to just do a good double-check.
