About
---------------------------------------------------- ResetSerialChannel is FREEWARE - there is no charge and distribution is encouraged under the condition that nothing about the application or accompanying documentation be changed. ----------------------------------------------------
ResetSerialChannel is a utility application that will help you get back on track if, for some reason, the application you are using to communicate via a serial channel dies, is 'forced-quit' or otherwise abandons one of your serial channels without it being closed.
The result is that when you attempt to re-connect, the request fails because the operating system reports to your application that the serial channel is already in use.
Of course, this is not so. In some cases, it is required that you reboot the computer to alleviate this situation. That is, until now.
Launch ResetSerialChannel, select the serial channel you wish to reset, click on the reset button and the channel is 'closed'. If an error is encountered, the number of the error is reported in the messages area.
If the channel was already closed, this is reported to you which may seem like useless information, but it can be a clue to the fact that, perhaps, there is something else wrong with your setup such as a cable connection, power to your modem, etc.
