System 8-er is a System updater with Apple's "estranged" 68K-users in mind. This preview version replaces a wide selection of various System icons with Mac OS 8-like ones (including the "Welcome to Macintosh," "Finder," Apple Guide "?", "System Folder," and "System" icons). Version 1.1 installs a menu bar Finder icon more true to the Mac OS 8 style, and replaces window header "trash can," "suitcase," "locked disk," and "locked file" icons with Mac OS 8-style ones. The full version of System 8-er removes all "$," replaces additional icons within Kaleidoscope and Aaron, and even brings the System 7 Finder's "trash can," "suitcase," "locked disk," and "locked file" window header icons closer to style of Mac OS 8. System 8-er updates resources in the Finder and System files. It is strongly recommended that you start your Macintosh (or compatible) from an alternate startup disk (other than your main hard drive) before using any such updater. Version 1.2 remembers to include the "Register" application (OOPS!). Purchase of System 8-er for $5 removes all "$"s, and entitles purchasers to ALL future updates.
