Favorite NuBus SCSI Card? 68k 12 posts Oct 5, 2007 — Oct 6, 2007
What's your favorite NuBus SCSI card? Why?

I picked the RavenPro because it is on the PDS bus and has 2 seperate UWSCSI chips, perfect for RAID.

2nd would be the FWB Jackhammer since I can easily format it and boot from it

SEIV would be 3rd.

You left out the Micronet Nuport from the list

Oooh, I did forget the NuPort.

I also forgot that early SCSI card from DayStar... remember what it was called?

JackHammer, because a bird in the hand is worth any number in the bush. To its credit, mine manages 2 x hp 9GB Ultras in a 950 with aplomb.

The JackHammer...if you are a Master of SCSI Voodoo, then this card screams. ;)

The SCSI adapter for the Radius Rocket is also missing.

Daystar SCSI Powercard?

jackhammer... cause i own 2 of them. :D

RavenPro because it is on the PDS bus and has 2 seperate UWSCSI chips
If they were bootable, would that mean they could be used under a *nix?

Well now, I just had to go googling for that, and lookee what I found:

> Raven 950 Utility v1.2.9 (124 KB) - utility for creating a RAID across the two SCSI busses of a Quadra 950.
I was looking for drivers for the Ravenpro and a guy had them, he setup that site after talking to me.

Does anybody actually *have* a Rocket SCSI-II Booster? Years ago I searched and searched but could not find one... it was just as well 'cuz the Photobooster served me better.

Also: is a MicroNet RavenPro NuBus (the PDS is totally different) just a SiliconExpress IV with custom firmware? I seem to have seen something about that on the web somewhere...

I think it is the same as the PDS card, I have a picture of it somewhere. The Micronet cards are just remarked Storage Dimensions MacinStor cards (Digital Video Speed Array when sold for the Videiovision and Data Canon 040 PDS sold seperatly).

Micronet purchased the whole Mac product line , there is an article on it in Oct/94 macWorld.
