And if it does work, does it then allow the machine to run at the higher speed? Seems like it maybe ought to, but it also seems like the logic board in the 520 might not be capable of 540 speeds. Depends how cheaply they made the things, really.
yes it will. it will boost the speed to the same as a 540, just with a crappier screen
Good to know. Gives me options for my hunt for a PowerBook 5x0c model. Thanks!
You can even use a 550c processor in any of those systems as well, that's what my 540c is currently running
or a PPC processor which I have in mine. But I never hardly use it.
My PPC card has an issue though. When its cold/first turned on, its horribly unstable. Once it warms up a bit, its fine. I have two 520/540 machines. ones horrible condition, other is fine. Both do the same thing with the PPC card.
Sounds like a bad solder joint somewhere, maybe?

Hah! Got to find one first! Good trick if you can manage it. }:¬DYou can even use a 550c processor in any of those systems as well, that's what my 540c is currently running
Indeed. That was a very good trade. That system is the one currently running the PB550 daughtercard.
Yeah, the one I have is the first one I've ever seen for sale anywhere, had to order it from Japan directly. I really enjoy being able to run a full 040, only one they ever made for their portable line.Hah! Got to find one first! Good trick if you can manage it. }:¬D
