MS Office 68k-Version

The latest version of Office you can run on the 68K is 4.2.1 (Word 6.0, Excel 5.0, PowerPoint 4.0). But this is widely known as being a slow, buggy, wretched version. Office 98 was much better and fixed most of the problems of the previous version, but it requires a PowerPC.

You might be better served, particularly if you don't need all of the Office programs, with slightly older versions of the individual applications, like just Word 5.1.

To say the truth I was using word6.0 a long time ago and I was satisfied, but then I had a long break in using Macs Im writing from europa and here it is not easy to get such old soft. Do you know where to get MS Office 4.2.1?

I've never had any problems with Office 4 on the 68k. I expect there is a copy on the 68k hotline server, take a look around the forums and you should find more info

Could it be that the server is now offline or do I have a much bigger problem because of the student house gateway?

What problem do you have? You have installed a Hotline client and are attempting to connect through that, as opposed to a browser etc?

Hmm Ive downloaded and installed the client configured like it should be

but Im getting the message from the client:

Connection timed out waiting for remote host

Im connecting to other servers on dynds.org but I cannot to retro68k any ideas? the entries for other severs are written with IPs.
