Reading back, I realise my hint above was vaguely worded:
What I meant was an adapter from a Mac monitor port to composite or a similar PAL/NTSC video standard. In the thread, I'm trying to achieve the same with a 6100 which can't take an AV card because the slot is in use.
Plugs into the Mac monitor port, outputs to TV. I have no idea if it will do thousands of colours.
