I don't know exactly what system you are using with your SE, but in a nutshell the 7.0 and above LaserWriter driver will print a Preview compatible PostScript file. This should preserve your document exactly as it appears on the SE, bit-mapped fonts and all. Once you have it in Preview, or Adobe PDF you can print it, or copy it to another document.
This was one of those problems that really made me crazy since I did not want to have to support a laser printer specifically for my Mac 128K.
