Yes, shred, there was only one model and part number for the cable. It can often be confusing because these are stock numbers for pulling items from a warehouse. Apple would routinely change vendors or manufactures or even design and replace an earlier version, but it continued to carry the same stock and often model number as it fulfilled the same purpose. In this case, Apple had a Macintosh model number of M0170 which the customer would use and the dealer would order it from the warehouse with P/N 590-0197. Originally, Apple released that modem cross-platform with the Apple II and simply had the Apple cable manufacturer produce a double DE-9 cable in Macintosh-matching medium-brown (also used on the Apple IIe) as well as the other Apple variants cables for the modem. Later they had the Macintosh cable manufacturer make a matching version for the rest of the Mac family cables. But the part/model numbers and pin-outs remained the same.
I already have the original Apple version of the cable, I'm now looking for one that matches the rest of my cables and to confirm that Apple actually made it and just didn't intend to make it, despite it being pictured in their service guides.
