Heh. The Apple 16" Color Display does not work at any other resolution except 832 X 624. That was Apple's standard for 16"/17" displays.
The Apple 16" Color Display was the one with the big base that had what amounted to an ADB hub built in. It also had jacks to repeat the microphone input and speaker output.
The Apple 17" Multi Scan Display followed. It had the same base, but also supported other resolutions.
