Yeah, and the Varta's seemed to have a less spectacular failed mode, they don't spray acid over the board like the maxell's. the IIx that battery came from was resurrected

But I do agree with you that they are some of the best battery's, one of the ones from one of the IIx's I picked up a while ago still has a near full charge. And it should also be noted that at the sale I picked them up from I saw examples of every battery apple have used leaking, so I guess it's more a that poor storage was the problem rather than the build quality of the battery.
