The only way to get power to it is via the base, which has a port for an AC adaptor. That DB-25 port is not a "real" SCSI port as far as I'm aware - it carries both data and power, and actually doesn't carry any SCSI data at all, if I'm correct.

I'm sorry, but you really have no alternative but to hunt down a base unit. And no, you can't have mine.
