I am also going to perfect the apple with some red filmy stuff you find at art stores, because the red packing paper look pink when it glows.

You are going to have trouble getting a red piece of film paper to show an actual red. Look in Pro lighting stores for a red gel since those are meant for bright light shown through it to produce red. It may cost a touch more but I think it'd be worth it.
