The only successful ResEdit hack I did on Finder involved a loophole with At Ease and Hypercard. If At Ease allowed Hypercard, then from within Hypercard (not the slimed down Player version) I could run any apps within Hypercard including those not allowed by At Ease. Changing Finder's type to APPL made it behave like an apps and it will run behind At Ease, allowing me unrestricted access to the protected Macintosh.
Belated apologies to that college who couldn't figure out how I changed the library computers to have Spectre and Spectre Supreme available from At Ease when it's not supposed to be available.
