Once upon a time I was partially successful in getting pkgsrc working on my ANS. Built a few "modern" packages with it. I sold that ANS and probably have the packages archived on a drive somewhere, but I'm afraid that's not much help. So I post this by way of saying you might give pkgsrc a try. AIX isn't the most well-supported platform, and 4.1.5 is very old, but it does work after a fashion.
