To tell the truth, I never really checked into why it didn't work with the IIsi.
It just didn't, but the "internal" CD worked fine off a long internal SCSI Ribbon Cable, along with the target HDD sitting on top of it, while the ZIP was happy as a clam on the external bus.

I've bought so much "untested" stuff, hoping it would arrive DOA and hasn't, or fiddling around with stuff that WAS DOA fixing it, and then not having the heart to hack it, that it was actually a relief that it hadn't worked. I just gutted the little B@$^@&% after breaking one of the little tabs off while figuring out how to open it up.

I got this and the CD SC at the flea market along with a Beige Plus, KBD & Mouse. The CD SC works, so it's no-go when it comes to hacking.

Originally I wanted to do a "Snow White" MacMiniCUBE, but decided an ATOMicMicroIIfx w/DVD Tray Loader was a better spin on the original concept.

I've already offered techknight the giblets for hacking a DVD CartridgeLoader and loaning him the SCSI-AUDIO Controller Board to reverse engineer. So we'll see if any parts become available for yours or not.
