SCSI-AUDIO Generic Cartridge Mechanism Controller :?:
This board appears to interface with the Generic Cartridge Mechanism at the 12V Power, TTL Signal & Control Levels.
My interest in this board is to have it reverse-engineered by an interested, technically competent comrade. This need only be done to the point of proving or disproving the viability of cloning it. Such a clone could be generally useful for A/B switching a Modern Tray Feeding DVD Player Mechanism at the control board level in order to use it as a 68k or PPC Mac's simple SCSI interface CD Reader Substitute on the one hand, and for feeding its S-Video output directly to a 630-6500 Video System Board's S-Video input for watching DVDs on a Takky or my Takkified Classic's 52" screen Pico-Projection Display or frosted, rear-projection CRT face replacement options.
Even a lowly MehMac/Road-Apple 5x00 could be an AIO DVD Player while retaining the SCSI CD functionality for system maintenance or feeding its Audio I/O. Granted, the players native control board's line level analog output might be superior, especially when coupled with an MP3 CD, but that's a point for quibbling.
Modern, S-Video/Composite Output Budget DVD for Comparison:
Conceptually, I think it would be cool to go in this direction as a generally available 68kMLA Hacking Board, maybe more so than the incredible obstacles presented in retrofitting a modern DVD Player into an ancient Cartridge Based Player Chassis.
