I use an HP L2025 (http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11484_na/11484_na.html), and it looks pretty darned good at 832x624, and 1152x870. This is a 20" LCD, 4x3 aspect ratio, that has a native resolution of 1600x1200.

The only standard Mac resolution that it won't do is 640x480@66Hz.
