I know AppleCD SC was introduced in 1989, but what's the difference between 150, 300, 300e, 300 plus, 600i and 600e plus? (Are there more models?)
As far as I know, the difference is the speed. A CD/SC is a caddy-load 1x drive the same as a CD100. CD300/CD300i are a tray-load 2x drive. CD600 and CD600i are a tray-load 4x drive.
PPC G4 "Graphite" was the first Mac to ship with a internal SuperDrive (CDRW), but didn't a external CDRW drive exist before Apple labeled it as a SuperDrive?
The "SuperDrive" was a DVD-R(AM) drive. Apple didn't ship an Apple-branded CD-RW drive until the PowerMac G4 Cube and PowerMac G4 Digital Audio.
What about the 68k's? Did anyone sell a compatible CDRW at the time Apple sold 68k's? If Apple didn't ship any 50pin SCSI CDRW's in the 90's, then who did?
There were several different, third-party, external SCSI CD-RWs available. I have a Yamaha branded one.
