4GB AMD PC3-8500 (2x 2GB) $23

and then I got a locally-designed Devanni Nitrous Case for $60 on craigslist

Pulled out my RocketRAID 2300 4-port SATA RAID card

and put in 3x 1TB Hitachi Ultrastars (Got three for $30/pc or $90 altogether)

Threw in a 2TB WD Green drive I had lying around, a 430Watt Antec TruePower Trio and 2 on-hand DVD-+RW DL drives

10.7.5 runs great. I also uploaded a video on youtube where I showed how to setup the RAID for boot. So it's booting from the RAID-0 (Striped) and is super fast. The HDD in RAID maxes almost at 200MB/s
