I decided today was a good time to go through my spare ide hard drives and try and eliminate the ATA 33 and the 5400 rpm ones where possible. I found a few slow 20gb drives. Pretty much all the Apple ide hard drives below 10gb are 5400 rpm. I’ve been trying to think of a situation where one of those might be useful or necessary and I can’t seem to think of one.

I had a couple of 6500s handy. I’d upgraded almost everything in those except the hard drives. I rarely used them so I never bothered. Now seemed like a good time. I timed the boot then I copied everything over and timed booting with a 7200 rpm drive. One was about 10% faster booting and the other 20%
