As with anything you need to use common sense when working on the top spring, do the procedure lightly and you won't misalign the heads.  Both the drives I fixed are back in their respective machines.  Both machines have had the os re-installed via the floppy, both worked flawlessly.  Let's not forget the drives were toast before the fix.
