The internal spring has three adjustment steps on the bottom, by default the spring is set to the middle step. Are you saying there is also adjustment steps at the top of the internal spring? If so I didn't know that. How hard is it to adjust it though, it's quite difficult to get to the top of the internal spring?
If adjusting the internal spring alone fixes the drive then all good. I did try that first. With both my drives the head was still up too high, it required the screw driver trick.
