I know the 8600 is not very picky (it works with no termination atall, however i do still terminate it) Not sure how picky the others are.What i would like to know is what macs are really picky so i can keep a eye out for something to really test them on.

I can assure you not all 8600s are created equal. The MESH controller in mine is very picky. Getting a 68-pin drive working required a terminator at the end of the bus and the one that should have been in the CD-ROM drive (the stock device at the end of the chain) didn't do.
