whats funny is the chips we already have… were on 16 meg 30pin simms already, corect?

not going to lie, all that work and almost no progress really bummed me out.

but i am still willing to try different chips if anyone has some that we can make a better hypothesis on…

ok… so is there a reason apple used 4 meg? i mean the q700 / LC3's lc2's / 610 / 605…. even the powermac 6100… that has 2 banks of 4 meg to make 8… but same chips.

are we sure apple just didn't maybe buy like a million of these ram chips and tried to maximize their use across many models?

so they might have something in the memory controller that is only going to accept a 4 megs….

and with the IIsi we were just lucky… maybe they were going to put 4 megs in there anyways… that might be why it works…
