I found when you move stuff back to the Mac just open StuffIt or drop the file on it and it repairs the fork.
I use windows 7 home and use a memory stick or USB floppy to put it on my imac G3 or color classic.

I just read that elsewhere too sounds like a confirmed work around - I'm going to try this and the HFV trick - thanks gents -
